BEECHER ROAD SCHOOL IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE HAVE FORMED A FARM TO SCHOOL TEAM. FARM TO SCHOOL REPRESENTS THE 3 C'S: COMMUNITY, CLASSROOM AND CAFETERIA.
This year the team attended the Farm to School Institute.
We are looking to grow our team to increase education and access to fresh local gardens and foods.

CT Grown for Kids Week
Beecher Celebrates CT Grown for CT Kids Week
From October 6–10, we celebrated CT Grown for CT Kids Week as part of Farm to School Month. Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to learn about local agriculture, meet farmers, and taste fresh, locally grown food.
We kicked off the week on Monday by sampling salsa made by Massaro Community Farm right here in Woodbridge. Students enjoyed taste-testing and voted whether they “Loved it,” “Liked it,” or if it was “Not for Me.”
On Tuesday, students participated in a fun, school-wide corn shucking event with corn fresh from Grassy Hill Farm. The corn was picked and delivered on Monday, then prepared and served by our kitchen staff on Wednesday—delicious corn on the cob for everyone to enjoy!
To end the week, Eb Gaines from H2O Farm in Guilford visited on Friday to talk about hydroponic growing and share how his lettuce is grown. Students sampled two types of salad—New England Mix and Spring Mix—and voted on their favorites.
It was a fantastic week of hands-on learning, healthy eating, and connecting with our local farms!
