Woodbridge School District Principal's Message
Dear Beecher Families, BRS Field Day The second annual BRS Field Day was a great success. This could not happen without the support of the Physical Education and Health Department, Arianne Buzzard, Andrew Lavaway and Anthony Taddei. Their efforts to organize an entire school event to support the BRS community is greatly appreciated. All staff participate and the events are led by our very own sixth graders as a way to give back to Beecher Road School. A thank you is extended to all the volunteers and the Amity High School Seniors who assisted as part of their Senior Internships.
Lockdown Follow Up Information As you are all aware, Beecher Road School experienced a lockdown this past Wednesday, June 5th. The faculty and staff puts student safety as its highest priority. Students followed all adult directions and were safe at all times. Our vendors are still working on pinpointing the cause of the false alarm.
Our fifth grade students were fortunate enough to visit STEAM Day at Amity High School. Some of the exhibits included: Urban design, Little bits - electronic building blocks, Fibonacci sequence in Nature, Fuel cell, Robotics, Drones, Chemical analysis, and Submarines. Thank you to all the teachers and students that made this day a success.
SUMMER EXTENDED DAY Hurry, we are filling up quickly. Sign up for daily swimming, daily cooking, daily games, and daily fun!!! Choose to enroll for an afternoon of fun or a week of fun! Drop-ins are always welcome.
NOTE: SEP Announcement!!! During weeks #1 & 2 (June 24- July 5) Tikki Tikki Tembo has been changed to Cows in the Kitchen. Please join us for a fun-filled 2 week theatre experience.
Information Worth Repeating
We would just like to thank everyone who has participated in the school lunch program. It is that time of the year when we would like you to look at your children's accounts to make sure they are current. It is also the time of the year when our 6th graders are moving on. Just a reminder when the 6th grade move up to Amity it is a different District and their monies do not roll over. If you have a balance and there are siblings in the school we can move their money over to one of them. If your child is leaving and has no siblings you will need to request a check from the café. please email Jane Roddy at jroddy@woodbridgeps.org
In order to remain in compliance with federal and state guidelines, the price for a regular lunch will increase to $3.00, effective the 2019-2020 school year. Remember all information will be accessible through the Parent Portal.
End of year notifications and reminders As we near the end of the school year and special events are occurring throughout the building, we ask that you be mindful when bringing food in for celebrations. Please continue to follow the food restrictions in place for your child's classroom. If your child has any medication in the Nurse's Office, state law requires that a parent/guardian or a designated adult pick up this medication before or on the last day of school. If your child is going to participate in the Enrichment Program or the Recreation Program, the medication can remain in school. Please contact the nursing staff to make sure your child's medication and order covers the summer months. It is necessary to file a new Prescribers Authorization (medication order) form and/ or Action Plan and bring in any medications (even over the counter medication) needed at the beginning of each school year. You can find the 2019/2020 forms in the Health Service file on the Woodbridge School website after June 1st. Forms will also be available in the main office during the summer months.
Due to increased costs in our operations, the Extended Day Program will be raising its prices for the 2020 school year by approximately 4%. The new costs are as follows:
1 day per week (Cost Per Month) $100
Thank you for your understanding as we continue to provide caring supervision and comprehensive programs for our students and families.
