WOODBRIDGE BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVES SUPERINTENDENTS RECOMMENDED FY21 BUDGET This past Monday night (December 16) the Woodbridge Board of Education approved the Superintendent's Recommended FY21 Operating Budget with a total increase of less than one percent (.76%). This budget will now be forwarded to the town for their review and action. As all of you know, the town of Woodbridge has asked all town departments, including Beecher, to be sensitive to the town's economic realities for the coming year.
This approved budget maintains all current programs and includes all salary and benefit increases as contained in our collective bargaining contracts. It also contains significant savings in our outplacement budget. The budget includes the addition of positions to address increased student needs, referrals and mandated testing. The positions added are: 1.0 resource teacher , .5 speech and 1.0 psychologist (which is netted against the reduction of a .5 social worker). While staff reductions are very painful and not taken lightly, we needed to address the rising number of new referrals. PPT meetings, increased and mandated evaluations while at the same time providing full time services to students and full time support to staff. This budget will reduce our professional development funds (Columbia Partnership) as well as limit our increase in the area of instructional supplies.
The Boards of Finance and Selectmen will be establishing a date in the new year for our budget to be presented and discussed. Please click on this link to view the FY21 Budget Book
Please feel free to contact me directly via email if you have questions about the FY21 budget.

As you may remember, the Woodbridge Board of Education engaged the services of CABE (CT Association of Boards of Education) to conduct the search process for the position of Principal of Beecher Road School. CABE's search consultant Mary Broderick will be working with the appointed search committee (representatives from parents, Board, teachers, teacher assistants, secretaries and administrators) in the new year to conduct this search process.
