A note from the Nurse
It is that time of year again! During cold and flu season, it is important to remind students to wash their hands before and after certain activities throughout the day. Clean hands help prevent the spread of germs that could lead to serious illness. We encourage students to wash their hands before lunch and after using the restroom. Hand washing can not be over emphasized.
The following are everyday preventative action to stop the spread of germs:
- Have students cough into their sleeve.
- Avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with sick individuals.
- Avoid sharing cups and eating utensils.
- Stay home when sick.
Get the flu vaccine yearly. The vaccine is still available and it is not too late to get it.
Looking for Volunteers
The Library is looking for some helping hands in the mornings with a variety of tasks. Any amount of time would be appreciated. Please email the Librarians to find out more: Larissa Crocco lcrocco@woodbridgeps.org and Lori Patrick lpatrick@woodbridgeps.org
Outdoor time
As you know BRS believes strongly in outdoor time as part of a student's day. Winter weather requires students be properly attired to participate in outdoor time. Please label items so forgotten mittens can be returned if misplaced. Check the lost and found regularly for any missing items!
Looking back
We recently had some special events that brought the BRS community together. The first was the Book Fair; which was run by our tremendous PTO volunteers. The excitement on our students' faces as they walked out of the book fair with new books to read was a happy sight to see! Many thanks to the PTO for all of their hard work and dedication! The second event was our band and choral concert. Students in band and chorus put on an amazing performance for students and parents. This evening of music was put on by Mr. Letsch and Ms. Lempke and was enjoyed by all!
Looking ahead
As we prepare for next year's needs and enrichment programs we have decided to host our 2nd BRS Owls Fun Run! Last year we raised over $30,000 in our first ever BRS Owls Fun Run! That is the most we've ever been able to raise in one event!! For those of you who are new to BRS, the BRS Owls Fun Run is a two-week program that allows us to maximize our funds raised in a short amount of time with little volunteer hours. Our BRS Owls Fun Run will kick off with a Pep Rally on January 27th. Families will then gather pledges online at www.funrun.com for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps) at the BRS Owls Fun Run (Glow Run), which will happen on February 7th.
