Schedule
There was some confusion about the schedule for the first few days of school. As a reminder, the Kindergarten schedule differs from grades 1-6. The schedule below is for Kindergarten only:
- Wednesday, September 9, 2020, 9:00-10:00 AM (only students with last name A-K) Drop off at the North entrance. *NO bus transportation on either of these days.
- Thursday, September 10th & Friday, September 11th (11:25 dismissal)
(Bus transportation will be provided AM ONLY, follow the drop off guidelines below. For 11:25 pick up, you may pick up at the North entrance.) - Monday September 14th, the first full day for all Kindergarten students.
The schedule for all students in grades 1-6 is below:
- Wednesday, September 9: Early dismissal for students with the last name A-K (in person only. Remote learners early dismissal for all students)
- Thursday, September 10: Early dismissal for all students (remote and in person)
- Friday, September 11: Early dismissal for all students (remote and in person)
- Monday, September 14: Full day for all students
Buses run every day!
A Wellness Note
Dear BRS Families,
We begin the 2020-21 school year during an unusual time, when much of life feels upside down. We are all feeling apprehensive and have worries about the current climate, and will need time to adapt to the start of the school year. This will take flexibility and patience from staff and families alike. It will take us all a few weeks to get back into the routine; a routine we abandoned 6 months ago! Additional upset emotions, frustration and surprise will be common from your children as they work to get used to the "new normal."
We all may be feeling like so much is out of our individual control, but we still have many daily choices. This year, at Beecher Road, we have an increased emphasis on social-emotional learning (SEL). This increased SEL focus will help children to build self-help skills, coping strategies and resilience. SEL activities and strategies will be shared with you throughout the year, and we encourage you to use these at home as well. A few simple tips to get you started are included at the bottom of this letter.
Give your child time to settle into the school year. If persistent concerns arise, as always, please reach out to your child's teacher. We will be working closely with staff and they will contact us if additional help is needed. Together we can succeed!
In good health and peace!

A Note from the Nurse
Med drop off:
All students needing medication at school this year will need to update their medication authorization, allergy action plan and/or asthma action plan (available on the BRS website)- completed by your physician and signed by a parent. Medication in its original container with the prescription label on it can be dropped off to school during the AM drop off time at the south entrance during the first 2 days of school (Tues 9/8 and Wed 9/9). Please drop your child off, park and walk to the south entrance — a nurse will be available to receive the medication. Alternatively, medication can be arranged to be received at the north entrance by appointment during the hours of 1:30 PM and 3 PM the first week of school, when buses have departed the campus. Please call the nurse at 203-389-7614 to let us know when you are coming.
Masks
We want to remind parents that there may be a few students at Beecher Road School without a face covering. If your child sees a student without a mask start with compassion, it may not be noncompliance. We ask everyone to be respectful if you see individuals on campus who are not wearing masks or face-coverings, as they may have received a medical exemption. If you are concerned about a student being noncompliant with the mask policy (your child reports to you a student is taking his/her mask off on the bus, for example), please inform a teacher or administration to address the matter. Respect the individual's privacy, school staff will address any situations that arise, now is a time for compassion, not division.
Also, as a reminder, please be sure you send your child in with an appropriate mask. Unless gators are reinforced, they are not appropriate material to be worn at school.
