Woodbridge School District Principal's Message
Dear BRS Community,
"Try your best to make goodness attractive. That's one of the toughest assignments you'll ever be given." Mr. Rogers
Every single day at Beecher, we work to teach our students about kindness. We do this in a thousand ways—both big and small. This could be as simple as a good morning greeting with a smile and a wave, holding the door for the person behind you or kneeling down to help tie a shoe…..or it could be in bigger ways, like have a whole class conversation about a recess incident, or problem solving ways to manage friendships, or even talking to students about something that felt scary or unsafe. These conversations and lessons are sometimes purposeful but, more often than not, spurred by events that happen in the classroom. However it happens; the message is always the same: treat others with kindness, take care of our community, and remember: we are a Beecher family. Cafe News Want to find out how you can save time and at least $530 per year? That's easy, and no brown bagging necessary! The USDA has extended waivers for the school lunch program for the remainder of the current school year. That's right, FREE lunches for both in-person and remote learners. Daily hot and cold lunch entrées offer nutritionally balanced menus, with no parent prep necessary.
504 meetings are currently being held for students who did not have plans reviewed in the spring due to COVID-19 and for students who have reviews due in the fall. Lola Johnson will reach out and schedule your 504 meeting, which can be held in-person or virtually. If you have any questions regarding a 504 accommodation plan for your child, please reach out to Doreen Merrill, Assistant Principal or Lola Johnson at (203) 389-2195.
Thank you for continuing to complete the daily COVID symptom checklist with your students and keeping them home when they are sick. Please call the nurse's office if they are home with COVID symptoms for further guidelines on returning to school.

News from Extended Day Dear Extended Day Families:
We hope everyone is well and that your children have adjusted well to school this year. I would like to give you an update on what is happening at Extended Day.
The children stay in their cohorts and come to their designated fun space in which they stay throughout their afternoon with us. We are offering tech lab one day a week to each cohort, 3D printing, arts and crafts, dance party, homework support, and much outdoor play. This week our new activity that the children had a fun time doing was to tie dye their own masks. The Extended Day teachers have worked together to help make this a fun time in which the children can be in activities, outside, take mask breaks, and most importantly spend time with their E-day friends. Please go online and register for some fun time at Extended Day.

Technology Needs The survey to request a device should a long-term closure occur is now closed. If you missed this opportunity, please contact James Crawford or Jeanne Ciarleglio at parenttechsupport@woodbridgeps.org. Please make a request ONLY IF you require a device for the completion of school work. If you previously made a request, you do not need to make another request at this time. Thank you!
Author Visit We are excited that we have already had a virtual author visit for every grade level this year (and four grade levels had an author/illustrator visit!). This past Monday, acclaimed Connecticut author Janae Marks met with all our in person and remote sixth graders to talk about her recently published book, From the Desk of Zoe Washington. This is an excellent independent or whole family read for Grades 5-6 and family read aloud for Grade 4 that gently introduces social justice concepts.
Join us for a town wide event: Building a Diverse Family Library. This virtual event will take place on November 18th at 7:30 pm and is perfect for parents! A link will be forthcoming closer to the event. We hope to see you there! Quicklinks
