Woodbridge School District Principal's Message
Dear BRS Community,
As we enter the busy month of December, I wanted to take a minute to thank each and every one of you for all you have done to support Beecher this year. We never could have anticipated how very different life, and learning, would be a year ago. It has been a long and challenging journey, and I am sure there will be more challenges that we will face, but we have done it together. I am honored to be a member of this community, grateful to work with an amazing staff of dedicated professionals and so incredibly appreciative of the support our parents and community members have shown us. From the bottom of my heart: thank you. Do Good December! Sometimes when I am feeling particularly tired, or overwhelmed, or even a little cranky, I actually like to do a small act of kindness. Something about knowing I'll make someone else smile lifts my spirits just a little and usually turns my own mood around. Doing good feels good is one of those cliches that definitely holds true for me! I recently shared a Do-Good December calendar with teachers. This calendar reminds us to do something good every day. Now, that's hard to maintain in this busy time, I understand that, but even a few days of doing good will make a difference- for you and for someone else! You can find the Do-Good December calendar here.
Lexia Core5 This year your child will be using Lexia® Core5® Reading, a fun computer-based program that has helped millions of students. The activities in Core5 support and build on our classroom curriculum and focus on developing reading skills in six areas: phonological awareness, phonics, structural analysis, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
There is access for every student at Beecher Road School because we want to improve every single student's reading level. Lexia is for all students and there are skill building opportunities for even our most advanced readers.
While this program is used at school, it's important that students use it at home also. This is an incredible tool for students who struggle in reading, as well as a way to enrich a student's reading skills who are strong in the area of reading. This is appropriate for students up to 6th grade. Please reach out to your child's teacher for login information if you haven't already received it.
Your child's teacher will be more specific in the expectations for home use. For younger children, 10-15 minutes daily will go a very long way in their reading development. Shorter, more frequent sessions tend to be more productive than one longer session.
We need your help to encourage your child(ren) to utilize this beneficial reading program at home. We look forward to partnering with you! Cafe news All school lunches continue to be free-for-all children under 18 in your family. Please view this short informational video found here about this amazing opportunity!

As a reminder, if you are a remote student, you must submit this form weekly to request lunches.
Bus reminders For those students who ride the bus, it is important to remember some very important expectations. Please take a minute to remind your child that they should remain seated, keep their masks on and talk quietly. Bus safety is always critical, but even more so during these times where health and wellness are a priority.
Cold weather clothing As the weather gets colder, it is important that all students wear appropriate clothing. As a reminder, our students are outside for recess every single day unless the temperature does not permit it. Gloves, hats and winter coats are a must. Students also go outside regularly for movement and mask breaks. Many often eat lunch or snack outside as well. Please be sure your child is prepared to be outside for an extended period. Quicklinks
