Woodbridge School District Principal's Message
Dear BRS Community,
Welcome back from what I hope was an enjoyable and relaxing spring break! As I write this letter, I can look out the window and see the sun shining, leaves blooming and dandelions dotting the bright green grass. We are definitely speeding towards the end of the year, but there is still much learning ahead! The next few weeks will give us a long period of uninterrupted time to continue our growth and learning. This time of year is always so exciting as we see all of the learning flourish and come together for our students. Thank you, as always, for being a partner in your child's learning journey! Grade 6 Updates and Requests Parents of grade 6 students: We are still working on the details of 6th grade graduation, but it will be held on Friday, June 18th. More information to follow!
If your child participated in band, please return your band uniform to school. You may drop it off at the North Office.
Technology Updates We have had many broken iPads lately, as well as broken headphones and keyboards. Please encourage your child to handle these items with care, as repair and replacement costs are high. Additionally, all students are expected to follow the Acceptable Use Policy, whether in person or fully remote learning. Some highlights from the Acceptable Use Policy are:
We would greatly appreciate it if you would remind your child of these important policies.
Library Books It's time to start looking for school Library books that need to be returned. Math books, books for class projects and iPads will all be returned in June. Please have your student look around your home for any overdue books. Individual student overdue notices went home last week and updated notices will go home next week. Please contact our Librarians with any questions: Lori Patrick lpatrick@woodbriodgeps.org and Larissa Crocco lcrocco@woodbridgeps.org Thank you for your support!
PTO Author Visits We are so grateful to our PTO for sponsoring another round of author visits. Dr. Rajani LaRocca met virtually with our sixth graders to talk about her semi-biographical #ownvoices novel in verse, Red, White, and Whole. Author/illustrator Luke Flowers captivated our kindergarteners with his virtual visit, where every student was able to try being an illustrator. Bot Day We recently celebrated National Robotics Day with a special Bot day! All remote and in person students had the opportunity to listen to a live stream read aloud of Randy Riley's Really Big Hit by Chris Van Dusen. After that, students in grades 2-6 were provided with Brush Bot kits, directions and extensions and had the opportunity to create their own Brush bots! Students in grades K and 1 were gifted Brush bots made by 5th and 6th grade students. Our younger students also engaged in robotic art the past few weeks! Quicklinks
