Woodbridge School District Principal's Message
![]() Dear BRS Community, On two separate occasions recently I was walking down the hall and had the extreme pleasure of witnessing a moment filled with simple affection. On one occasion I saw an older brother walking his younger sister to her Kindergarten class. They paused outside of her door, gave each other the biggest hug and then parted. On another occasion I saw two twin sisters walking down the hall towards specials, holding hands. They were whispering to each other, their hands swinging between them, and I heard quiet giggles. I was reminded, on both of these occasions (and many more that I could probably fill a book with!) what an absolute privilege it is to work with your children. You have given me the greatest gift of all: the chance to be a part of your child's life. I am grateful. Calendar Updates Thursday June 17th: Early Release Day for all students. Dismissal time at 1:10 pm
Friday June 18th: Early Release Day for all students. Dismissal time at 1:00 pm
Monday June 21: Last day of school for all students. Dismissal time at 1:10 pm
ARTS Week 14 Many many thanks to our amazing ARTS Week Committee, led by our two artists Linda Acheson and Vicky Burford for a fun week! Among other events, students dressed in themed clothing each day (complementary color day was the most challenging for me!), experienced virtual field trips exploring coral communities and created a wire fish, that decorate our school grounds and fill it with whimsy and color! The theme of this year's Arts Week was swimming together to make good things happen -- and we certainly achieved that theme! ![]() Library Books It's time to start looking for school library books that need to be returned. Math books, books for class projects and iPads will all be returned in June. Please have your student look around your home for any overdue books. Individual student overdue notices went home last week and updated notices will go home next week. Please contact our Librarians with any questions: Lori Patrick lpatrick@woodbridgeps.org and Larissa Crocco lcrocco@woodbridgeps.org Thank you for your support!
From the nurse Summer is coming and we are enjoying increasingly warmer days. Please make sure your student brings a water bottle to school everyday so they can fill up at our water refilling stations throughout the building (the water fountains are still closed). If your student has an early recess, please apply sunscreen at home. Any student aged 6 and over can apply their own sunscreen at school, please do not send in any sprays and students should be independent in this task.
For any student with medication at school, please contact us to arrange a pick up time on the last/or close to the last day of school. If your student is attending a summer program please check with us that the medication and/or order will carry through the summer. Forms for next year can be found on the BRS website under health forms.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, From the nursing staff From the Cafeteria This has been an unprecedented year for the school lunch program. We want to thank all who participated in purchasing lunch this year. You helped our program be a success. Next year we will be participating in the SSO lunch program again There is NO CHARGE for School Meals. This program is available to all children because of federal funding from the USDA. There are no income guidelines or paperwork. Meals are offered at no charge. By taking a meal families ARE NOT taking meals away from someone who needs it more and ARE NOT costing the district money. Have a great Summer, see you next year!
Emergency Broadband Benefit Beecher Road School is working to help build awareness about the Emergency Broadband Benefit, a new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program.
