Woodbridge School District Principal's Message
Dear BRS Community,
Ana Kostovska once said, "If you want to be happy, you need to set your mind on happiness."
The school year is well underway and our students are busy launching the year! They have spent time across grade levels talking about how they want their classroom to operate. After brainstorming what they need as learners and how their teachers can support them, the class comes together to create a set of expectations for the year. Next, the class will talk about their hopes and goals for the year. All of this work sets the foundation for building a community of learners!
Arrival and Dismissal I'd like to thank so many of you who continue to support our arrival and dismissal procedures. As a reminder, there is no drop off in the morning prior to 8:20. Please do not drop your child off at the south entrance and depart, as there is no adult monitoring the students. Additionally, parking your car and walking your child to the door poses both safety and traffic concerns. It supports the entire process if you remain in your car and travel through the drop off line. Finally, we have been tracking the amount of cars that drive through and our numbers are often over 300; with our highest thus far being 357! We are doing our very best to support you and your child and we so appreciate your continued patience, support and kindness.
Dot Day The Dot, written by Peter H. Reynolds, encourages everyone to make a difference! In beautifully simple language, with visuals to match, the author lets us all know that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference! On Wednesday, September 15th, BRS will again participate in Dot Day through our art classes and by wearing dots! Don your dots for September 15th!
Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) Results Smarter Balanced Assessment results will be mailed home soon for our current 4th, 5th and 6th graders. For more information about the results, please visit this page provided by the CT State Department of Education.

*foster a better 2 way communication system with PTO *provide a clearer pathway to exchange information that keeps families aware of what is going on at the school. *reduce paper waste sent home or lost in your child's backpack. We are asking that each and every classroom have 1-2 volunteers as Room Parents with 1 Parent Grade Leader identified as the hub for the room parents in that grade. The Parent Grade Leader will be responsible for directing communication back and forth with the PTO and their grade team. The Room Parent responsibilities will be grade appropriate and specific. The Kindergarten Room Parents will likely have more involved roles - while the 3rd-5th grade room parents would likely be responsible for collecting to buy a teacher gift or communicating to your class when events such as the Hoot or Picture Days are here. We want everyone at BRS to feel included and as involved as they want to be. Please consider volunteering for these roles when your child's teacher asks in the coming weeks. Contact your child's classroom teacher and/or Hillary at BRSPTOinfo@gmail.com if you are interested.
