Dear BRS Community,
Friday, October 7th was World Smile Day! I challenged all students to collect smiles by greeting someone, saying please and thank you and being kind to the people around them. I hope that our students will continue to collect smiles in the weeks to come! We also celebrated a sunny day (after many days of rain) with a whole school walk outside. The staff and students enjoyed bubbles and fun music while taking a walk around the Beecher campus. Our community continues to grow in kindness and joy!
Power School Parent Portal
One way that we utilize Power School is to communicate with all families. Demographic information; including phone numbers and emergency contacts, are located in Power School. Thus, updating your parent portal is critical so that we can contact you in the event of an emergency. Please utilize this link in order to complete the process.
Woodbridge Like Me Day
The second annual Woodbridge Like Me day is happening THIS Sunday! The event will take place on the town green from 11:00-2:00. This annual event is held to celebrate the diversity within our community! We hope you can join us!

National Hispanic Heritage Month
Students continue to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by enjoying the story The Tree of Hope by Anna Orenstein-Cardona. From the front content: "Puerto Rican author Anna Orenstein-Cardona weaves an epic tale based on the true story of this bearded watchdog of the island, how the tree was impacted by Hurricane Maria, and how a group of people rallied together to save it." Students have also had the opportunity to learn about Sonia Sotomayer and practice their flamenco dance moves! The learning will continue through October 15th!
Veterans Day
On November 11th we will once again honor all veterans. We will be sharing additional information regarding this annual event soon. One piece of information we always gather is the name and rank of any veterans in the extended Beecher community. These names are displayed on our Wall of Honor in the building. Please stay tuned for more information about the special ways that we will honor our veterans.
Join our committees!
We currently have two committees that are in need of parent volunteers. Our wellness committee meets monthly and is focused on health and nutrition of the entire school community. Our second committee that is in need of parent volunteers is our Tools for Schools committee. This committee meets bi-monthly and is focused primarily on indoor-air quality within the building. If you are interested, please email Analisa Sherman at asherman@woodbridgeps.org If there is high interest, we will conduct a lottery.
Conferences
Parent teacher conferences are a wonderful opportunity to continue the partnership between home and school. As a reminder, parent conference days are October 18th and 20th. Both of these days are early dismissal days (1:10). Be prepared to learn about all of the amazing things your child(ren) are learning and doing at school!
