Meetings – 3rd Monday of the Month 7:00 PM – BRS Library Media Center

Goal 1

Prepare every child to be a highly successful and independent reader, writer, critical thinker and problem solver by the end of sixth grade.

Goal 2

Build the foundations of character and wellness that are essential for responsible participation as a local, national and global citizen.

Goal 3

Maximize the use of district resources; building, grounds, budget process and contract negotiations.

Goals 2017/18

Support the Superintendent in all aspects of executing the Strategic Plan, with the following specific items:

Goal 1: Implement effective curriculum standing sub-committee of WBOE that meets monthly to review and discuss curriculum issues. Notes from the meeting will be part of WBOE monthly consent agenda.

Goal 2: Support the administration in informing and providing progress on program initiatives, such as new project based learning initiative for 5th grade, school-wide enrichment clusters initially involving 3rd grade, as well as updates on current programs and changes.

Goal 3:  Review Professional Development plans for 2017-18 and 2018-19 as developed by the PDEC.

Goal 4:  Active participation on District Diversity Committee with goals to enhance diversity in all roles and celebrate rich diversity that exists in our community.

Initiate a Lecture Series leveraging community experts on various education topics, such as healthy food habits, good sleep habits, and other issues of interest.

Increase Board of Education involvement in the BOWA Districts. This might involve:

  1. Attending Amity BOE meetings.

  2. Creating BOWA meeting opportunities to discuss topics of interest to all – including periodic joint meetings with four (4) BOWA boards.

Increase visibility of WBOE members within the community.

  1. Attend PTO meetings.

  2. Pictures and short bio in Superintendent’s Update.

  3. Develop plan to involve community support involving health initiatives.  Lecture series for parents on healthy eating and/or sleep issues, and curriculum review and ideas on those same issues for health curriculum.
