World Drumming
The need to present meaningful multi-cultural educational programs has never been as great as it is today, and enriching the lives of students through arts education has become an increasingly high priority. We should take this opportunity to provide an instructional method that adds an exciting new dimension to both cultural and musical awareness. World Music Drumming brings the enjoyment and excitement of music participation while building important life-skills, such as communication, listening, teamwork, discipline and respect or others.
Music Theory & Technology
Music theory encompasses the nature and mechanics of music. It often involves identifying patterns that govern composers' techniques. In a more detailed sense, music theory (in the western system) also distills and analyzes the elements of music—rhythm, harmony (harmonic function), melody, structure, and texture. Students will get the opportunity to look at the basic structure of music through notation and chord analysis.
String Workshop
Beginning String Workshop is an opportunity for students to explore classical music with a hands on approach. Music is an integral part of everyone’s life. Recent research has shown that children exposed to classical music have shown improvement in their academic studies. Involvement in instrumental music can also bring enjoyment that is an important part of one’s emotional development.
Tri-M Music Honor Society
The Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international music honor society for middle/junior high and high school students. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership. Through more than 5,500 chartered chapters, Tri-M has helped thousands of young people provide years of service through music in schools throughout the world. This time would allow for project managers to work on community projects around the school and give the executive members time to meet.
Band Intervention
Practice, Practice, Practice!!! This time is reserved for students to practice independently for extra help. Whether they are struggling with Hot Cross Buns or working on their newest audition piece for the local youth orchestra, students can sign up for a practice room time. Sign ups will be limited based on space.
